Providing a high quality service for Forestry, Plant & Weed Control
Belmac Services Limited has been trading since October 2010 and we have successfully completed a large range of projects. Incorporating various methods, we strive to put quality first to ensure that all projects are completed to a very high standard.
We are happy to offer quotes for areas relating to tree planting and maintenance of these sites, commercial rhododendron clearance as well as other types of forestry work. Please contact us to talk over your requirements.
We plant treated and untreated treesĀ on what is called a restock site. We maintain these sites by coming back and “beating up” seasonally and will replace any dead/dying/missing trees to bring stocking levels to required amount.
We plant on mounds or straight in the ground with some sites requiring stakes & tubing to protect the trees from deer. We offer this type of service and can maintain these areas annually.
Other sites may require vole guards to offer trees protection against voles and rabbits.
Weed competition is a critical part of a young trees development during the first 5 years, and if not controlled it can make the difference between a successful crop and a failed crop. Whether you require hand weeding, motor manual weeding or larger scale site clearance of invasive species please contact us.
The sites that have been planted occassionally require chemical spraying to offer protection from either weevil or other plants blocking light in earlier stages of growth.
Spraying takes on two main aspects and uses either pesticides or herbicides to target pests and diseases (pesticides) or to eradicate weeds and invasive species (herbicides).
Spot spraying around newly planted or establishing trees is one of the tools in the establishment forester’s armory to help reduce weed growth and help promote growth within your newly planted trees.
Band Spraying is used in ground preparation when the site has been left for a few years prior to planting and this can either be done using a knapsack sprayer or using a quad and or tractor mounted boom sprayer.
Eradicating insects especially the pine weevil, which if left unchecked will destroy the young pines by ring barking the base of them, so it is essential to spray these at a time when they are feeding usually June/July using the appropriate pesticide.
We can clear rhododendron from sites using various methods:
We have been trained and are proficient in the Lever & Mulch technique to eradicate rhododendron. The most common form of clearing is Cut & Burn using chainsaws and fire which we also provide.
Certain sites require rope access work and we have level 1 IRATA trained operatives which perform this type of work on cliffs etc.
We have experience in other types of forestry work including kerbing and hand weeding.
We offer all these services to estates and on a commercial basis, please contact us with your requirements.
IRATA International ensures a safe system of work for rope access technicians. Each technician is required to re-certify every three years in order to demonstrate they maintain the necessary abilities in order to work safely.
This qualification demonstrates that our operatives can successfully identify the required personal protective clothing; apply the Health and Safety law surrounding chainsaw operation, maintenance and performance in line with relevant legislation.
